From a major new TV series produced for Channel 4, Bloom explores the love affair gardeners have with their Blooms.
Each episode on the video takes the viewer on a sensuous and informative tour of a different family of flowers. Shot entirely on film, Bloom reveals beautiful blooms, old favourites, new surprises and unlikely relations.
Lilies
"This has to be my most favourite member of the lily family. Cardiocrinum giganteum, the giant Himalayan lily," says self confessed plantaholic Bill Chudziak, as he stands under a crop of creamy white lilies towering ten feet above him in a Scottish Garden.
Peas
"Whenever a gardener goes for a member of the lily family they do it in a big way." In this programme Bill and Anne investigate the diverse world of the pea family (leguminosae), which includes classic cottage garden perennials, the sweet pea and lupin; the oriental splendur of wisteria and the otherworldly elegance of the jade vine. Bill then visits the Cambridge Botanic Gardens to discover the many different species they have on display.
