A fierce battle for championship glory emerged as the 1997 British Formula 3 season got underway. Johnny Kane driving for the Paul Stewart Racing Team and Promateam driver Nicolas Minassian were both determined. Dumbreck, Webber, Haberfeld and Bernoldi were strong contenders too - each put in some very strong performances and terrific driving to secure valuable points along the way.
But come the last race at Thruxton the championship was close. Too close for cane to relax even the slightest bit. Minassian had to win the race, take an extra point for the fastest lap and hope that Kane finished outside the top ten to steal the title. A tall order - but this is F3 and anything can happen! Kane knew he had to be careful - there was to much at stake!
